Julia is the President & CEO of Smart Electric Power Alliance.


Julia is a visionary leader at the center of the transformation underway in the electric power sector to a clean and modern energy future. She has served as the President and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), a non-profit, since 2004. She started as the sole employee of the organization with a budget of $300,000 and has since grown the organization to have 50 staff members and an annual budget of over $11M.


In 2010, Julia spun out a trade show business from SEPA, retaining 50% ownership. That subsidiary, for which Julia serves as Board Chair, has 30 staff and an annual budget of $16M.


Under Julia's leadership, SEPA rebranded from the Solar Electric Power Association to the Smart Electric Power Alliance in 2015. She also led the acquisitions of the Association for Demand Response and Smart Grid (ADS) in 2015 and Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) in 2017.


Julia is a skilled facilitator of strategic planning sessions and stakeholder forums, and is a highly sought after speaker for energy events around the world. She has shared the stage with some of the nation’s greatest leaders, including President Bill Clinton, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, General Wesley Clark, Energy Secretary Ernie Moniz, Mary Matalin, and James Carville. She has been quoted in The Economist, New York Times,Wall Street Journal and USA Today, and been a featured guest on Fox Business News.


Ms. Hamm is a graduate of Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing.
